Lill’ Bits:
You can always take another exit.
I was driving home in packed traffic, and as I tried to maneuver my small SUV across the lanes to my exit, I started to stress.
I’m going to miss it. I thought as frustration began to build inside of me.
I caught myself on the verge of launching into an old pattern.
Old Lilly would have started thinking and saying things like I’m so dumb, Why didn’t I try to get over sooner, etc.
But I decided to break that pattern a while ago. When the impulse came, I chose a different path. “So what,” I said aloud, “I’ll take the next one”. My body immediately felt relief, this wasn’t an emergency, it was just a minor inconvenience.
There is always another exit.
The same is true in your life. If you miss the opportunity, there will be another. Instead of beating yourself up over it, keep your eyes alert for the next path. I believe that what is for you never passes you by, it just may take a different course to get to it.
There is always another exit.
