Lill’ Bits:
Men…
Do you suffer in silence?
Do you internalize your struggles?
Do you tell everyone you’re fine when you are drowning inside?
It doesn’t have to be this way.
It is not weak to give context and voice to your struggles.
Recently, several of my clients have shared that they keep problems and pains to themselves not wanting to burden their partners.
While this sounds admirable, it’s not helpful.
I think vulnerability looks different in men and women. How we share and express our pains is different. I’m not suggesting men get into their “feelings” and “emote”. But I do believe giving context to your struggles is vital for your mental health and your relationships.
In my relationship when I have context as to my man’s stress/struggles I have more compassion for him.
It’s easy to live a life focused on our own experience. It’s helpful to the relationship when we are privy to our partner’s perspective.
You matter.
You can still be strong and share the context of your struggles.
If you are unsure how to do this, let’s chat.
It is not weak to give context and voice to your struggles.
