Lill’ Bits:
Go slow in conflict.
Often we try to rush through conflict to find resolution because the emotional distress is overwhelming.
This can lead to making hasty decisions or using harsh words that cause long-term wounds.
Breathe.
Relationship ruptures happen when our core wounds collide with our partners.
Meaning, something in the present is poking a soft spot from your past.
If you find yourself wanting to withdraw or be aggressive…
Take a deep breath.
Stop making assumptions.
Ask for clarity.
You and your partner each have your version of the truth and feelings related to that truth.
You don’t see the world as it is, you see it through who you are.
Learning to give grace and be genuinely curious about the other person’s experience creates space for reconciliation.
Relationship ruptures happen when our core wounds collide.
